Brake The Law

They say that there are just two things that everyone must do
Die, and pay taxes to the men who govern you
And even if you never find out where the money went
What you pay entitles you to vote for president
But presidents are only politicians on the take
They’re getting more than any honest man will ever make
The bankers and the businessmen they count among their friends
Absorb them all in interests, and investment dividends

Brake the law, before the law breaks you
Tell ‘em all to shove it; that’s the best thing you can do
And when those damned policemen come to carry you away
Make sure that you make them earn their pay
Brake the law

You think you’ve got democracy, you think you rule yourself
But I’ve never seen your name in any law book on my shelf
The senators, the congressmen you vote for on the side
They’re the first to turn the rules around, and make ‘em lie
I know you love your country, son, I know that you’re sincere
And sometimes the truth is very irritating to the ear
But if you want the world to change, and justice to exist
Show the men in politics the part that they can kiss

Brake the law, before the law breaks you
Tell ‘em all to shove it; that’s the best thing you can do
And when those damned policemen come to carry you away
Make sure that you make them earn their pay
Brake the law
