Thick Of The Fight

Time
Time waits for no man
It’s gone before you know it, and all I’ve got to show for it is
One more year gone by, one more broken dream about to die
After living a lie
Well, I’ve always been a soldier
But now I’m getting older, and this war goes on forever
Looks like I’ll never see the end
And sometimes it’s hard, hard to tell wrong from right
When you’re in the thick of the fight

You
You who remember when the word was revolution
And it seemed like the solution was as easy as a song
Can you tell me where it all went wrong
And how to make it right
When you’re in the thick of the fight

Say you want to take them by surprise
Say you want to open up their eyes
Teach them how to tell the truth from lies
Show that even poor men can be wise
Tell about the power they could wield
Teach them how to use the sword and shield
Tell them that it’s time to take the field
‘Til the very wounds of life are healed
Don’t yield

Try
Try to keep believing, when you’re left to stand alone
When so many of your friends have gone and
Joined the other side
When time has turned the tide, and now it’s hard
Hard to see the light
When you’re in the thick of the fight
